A young boy in Bangladesh risked his life in a surging river to rescue a drowning baby deer, prompting cheers from locals who weren’t sure whether Belal would reach the other side or be swept away. [x]

I agree with you all that Ellen Page made a touching and strengthful speech. She said she intends to help people with self acceptation and that we should stop being mean to each other. Which is a great speech itself and I liked it a lot. It was really helpful on the psychological side. But I’m sadly afraid all these recent coming outs by famous people are useless on the legal side. In Russia a coming out story of an occidental actress won’t help those people who are outlaws for being gay. Yes: “outlaws for being gay”. There and in many other countries a social, cultural battle is presently needed. In name of human rights I think everyone should be less selfish (when will we be learning it’s necessary to fight both for our rights and for the others’?) and at least stop ignoring what is happening in other corners of the world as if that was none of our business. Just stop ignoring. For I’m conscious that there such a cultural battle would be very very dangerous.
